Pakistan has rejected statements made by an Indian lawyer in the alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

Speaking to media on Sunday, Foreign Office spokesperson Ayesha Farooqi refuted the statements made in an online lecture by Harish Salve, India's lawyer in the Kulbhushan Jadoo case, in which she suggested that perhaps India should be given global status. The court will have to go back to justice.

The spokesperson said, "We reject the baseless and erroneous claim of the Indian lawyer that Pakistan has not complied with the decision of the International Court of Justice in this matter."

Ayesha Farooqi further said that Pakistan has so far fully implemented this decision and is committed to doing so with further progress in this case.

What did Harish Salve say?
Harish Salve, India's lawyer in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case, had said in a lecture on the 3rd of this month that India could approach the International Court of Justice (ICJ) as Pakistan was involved in implementing the court's decision and giving access to retired Indian Navy personnel. Is not working

Harish Salve, who was sharing details of the Kulbhushan Jadhav case in an online lecture, said that India has been in touch with Pakistan or eight times.

"We are trying to get Pakistan to release them," he said. "If they want to say that they are releasing them on humanitarian grounds, they can do it. We want them to come back."

Criticizing Pakistan, he said, "It has become a big ego issue for them. We have written them many letters, they are just refusing.

"I think we have reached a point where we have to decide whether to go back to the ICJ or not."

"Pakistan is not moving forward," he said.

It may be recalled that earlier on July 17 last year, the International Court of Justice had ordered Pakistan to review the death sentence of the alleged spy and give him consular access.

The court had ruled that Pakistan had violated Article 36 of the Vienna Convention by denying Clubbhushan Jadhav access to the consulate.

In the light of the decision of the International Court of Justice, Pakistan had formally offered India access to Kulbhushan Jadhav, after which the Indian diplomat had a two-hour-long meeting with Kulbhushan Jadoo.

After the meeting, Indian Deputy High Commissioner Guru Ahluwalia said that his citizen Kulbhushan Jadhav was being pressured to repeat the negative statement.

In April 2017, a Pakistani military court sentenced Kulbhushan Jadhav to death on charges of espionage, sabotage, and terrorism.

In May 2017, India knocked on the door of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against the decision and sought a stay on the sentence of Kulbhushan.

The International Court of Justice rejected India's appeal but ordered Pakistan to grant the accused access to the consulate and reconsider his death sentence.

Pakistan claims that Kulbhushan Jadhav is a serving officer of the Indian Navy who was arrested in 2016 from Pakistan's Balochistan province.

Pakistan has long accused India of supporting Baloch separatist elements in Balochistan.
